Safe Space Associates
A Safe Space for Counselling since its inception in 1999 has attracted a number of talented trainers and therapists.
Ken Rabone BA, PGCE, Dip Couns, Dip Sup, Cert SEN
Ken Rabone is the Director of Training, a qualified supervisor and experienced counsellor. His present supervision work includes counsellors working for Devon County Council, counsellors in schools, a range of workplace settings, and counsellors working in private practice. Ken has been a senior manager in schools and managed mental health day services for The National Schizophrenia Fellowship. Ken has taught counselling to hundreds of students in the South West of England over the last 10 years.
Susan Gandy is a practicing counsellor and psychotherapist working in private practice in Newton Abbot and at Palace Gate Counselling Service in Exeter.
Sue is Director of Professional Practice and Ethics at the Dartmoor Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
In all her work Sue is a passionate advocate for the value of authentic relationship as the basis, the starting point, for the therapeutic process. She comes to the therapeutic profession from a background of many years as a Samaritan Volunteer and from working in business management. She has training experience both in the voluntary sector and in the business environment. Some years ago she trained as a ‘Sedona Method’ teacher and facilitator. This technique based practice, which today might be described under the ‘mindfulness’ label, compliments her relational approach. The theoretical schools of therapy in which Susan’s practice is grounded include, ‘Person Centered Counseling’, ‘Integrative Psychotherapy’ and Gestalt Therapy.
Romeck van Zeijl
Romeck van Zeijl has trained in the Netherlands, the UK and Germany in various forms of Mindfulness-based and Body-Centered Psychotherapy, in Movement work with Adam Bradpiece and in the Diamond Approach. He has a private practice as a counsellor/psychotherapist and supervisor and provides courses in Integrative, Body-Centered and Transpersonal Psychotherapy and Counselling. He also devised a six day training in Healing Trauma, and ran the first ever two year training in Supervision in Slovakia. He has also received EU (Socrates/Grundtvig) funding to design a 5 day training for trainers around issues of Gender and Sexuality, and designed a Knowledge Management training for C.A.R.E, an international NGO in Asia.
Romeck is passionate about integrating a Body-Centered approach with creative exploration and Transpersonal work.
Marcia Burton is a Certified Hakomi Therapist. She has trained with Donna Martin, Bob Milone, and Ron Kurtz, creator of the method. In 1999, Marcia completed Pat Ogden's Hakomi Integrative Somatics trauma training in Ireland. Since moving to Canada in 2007, she has assisted on Hakomi trainings in England, Ireland, Mexico, Washington and Vancouver. Her experience in private practice includes working with people with mental health issues, work-related stress, and families affected by cancer. Marcia has an MA in counselling and psychotherapy from Bath Spa University, and is an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Marcia currently lives on the west coast of Canada, and maintains close links with Hakomi UK. She runs workshops and sees clients in both Canada and Devon. Marcia is a member of the Vancouver Hakomi training team. www.vancouverhakomi.ca
Kane Clements
Much of Kane's recent professional life has been in the field of training and development. He is an experienced manager with a strong grounding in organisational behaviour and its effect on performance delivery. A particular strength is working with groups or teams where there is dysfunctional behaviour, leading to positive change. More details of this work can be found at : www.klem.co.uk. Anne Hayward
Anne is a practising counsellor and psychotherapist in the NHS and private practice and a fellow of Peninsula School of Medicine and Dentistry (PSMD) where she runs courses in mental health issues; health psychology and developmental psychology. She works creatively with people to facilitate experiential and sustained learning and change. She has wide counselling, management and teaching experience, having been a mentor and academic lead in further and higher education for over twenty years. From a Relate and integrative counselling background she is MBACP qualified.
Kamalamani
Kamalamini is a Bristol-based integrative counsellor. She is passionate about seeing the creative changes that clients make in the care of the counselling relationship. Kamalamani is an engaged Buddhist and brings ‘metta’ (loving kindness) and mindfulness into the heart of her work. She has a broad base of work experience, having worked as a counsellor, small business consultant, facilitator and lecturer for the past 15 years. She is currently deepening her practice of integrating bodymindspirit approaches and healing in her therapeutic work, through further studyon a Diploma in Embodied Relational Therapy and practising Reiki.

Heather Rabone has been a teacher of Special Educational Needs for over 20 years and has been involved in complementary health care for over 15 years. She is a practitioner of Acupuncture, Emotional Freedom Technique and Aromatherapy and Massage and has taught natural health care to both young people, adults and families. In September 2004 she worked in Hangzhou, China, specialising in the practice of acupuncture with children. Heather is passionate about the use of natural health solutions as part of our everyday lives.
